Piercing Aftercare

Try to avoid touching, bumping, or sleeping on your piercing while it is healing. You also want to avoid submerging your new piercing in water, so swimming, baths, and hot tubs should be avoided.

Give your piercing attention 2-3 times per day by rinsing thoroughly with warm, clean water. Follow that up with a rinse with saline wound wash. Avoid using things like q-tips or paper towels, as they are not sterile and may irritate your piercing. Allow to air dry or you may gently pat it dry with sterile gauze. Try to avoid moving the jewelry while cleaning your piercing.

For oral piercings, avoid using mouthwash while it is healing. You also want to avoid excess movement or pressure, so try to abstain from smoking or drinking through straws.

Some piercings start with a larger piece of jewelry to allow room for swelling. It is important to downsize that jewelry when it is time to do so, so we strongly suggest returning when swelling goes down to be sized for new jewelry.
